What is it?

Ascientia's crash course is 12 hours of fully personalised 1-on-1 tutoring with one of our highly experienced tutors, in the subject of your choice. Unlike other crash courses that cover syllabi in general and are often groups sessions, our crash course provides you with dedicated help completely tailored for your needs.

The 12 hours are intended to be completed within 2 weeks. Your tutor will work with you to create a study plan that allows you to cover as much as you can in proper depth. The online format allows you and your tutor to organise classes around your schedules.

Starting a new academic year well prepared is very important. We aim to help you find the right footing and feel good about the coming year!

Congratulations on getting this far!

We commend you on completing your first year in spite of the circumstances. Though the first half of the IB didn't go quite according to plan, we aim to help you achieve your goals at the end of the programme.

Our Crash Course is designed to get you up to speed with your first year syllabus and prepare you for your second year. The personalised tutorials will allow our highly qualified tutors to consolidate the topics you've already covered and prepare you for the upcoming ones. They will work closely with you to create a customised study plan for the session.

Though a large part, the syllabus is but one of many aspects of the IB. We provide you with panel discussions with alumni all around the world. These interactive panels will touch on IB coursework as well as balancing university applications and IB2. There will also be a Q&A session with alumni now pursuing further education and/or careers to help you see the range of exciting possibilities that lie beyond that 45.

IB2 & Resits (Nov 2020 Exams)

We understand that it's been a long two years, and an even more difficult last couple of months. Our crash course aims to help you ace your exams! You will work with one of our IB expert tutors to consolidate your weaker areas and outline an essential exam prep study plan. They will provide access to a range of past paper questions and work through a variety of questions, styles and techniques with you.

As alumni ourselves, we understand the significance of preparing well for your exams. It may seem like a daunting and overwhelming task, and that is why our crash course is a completely customised 12 hour intensive session with a high-achieving IB alum. Let us help ease the stress by helping you finish the IB in an organised and strategic manner.

Your upcoming exams might be the most pressing thing on your mind, thus we also provide you with an opportunity to meet incredible individuals a couple of years ahead of you. This interactive panel discussion allows you to hear from IB alumni about their journey after the IB. We hope this will be an informative talk that will both help confirm your plans and open your mind to other possibilities, but most of all know that whatever path you choose it'll all work out.

Pre IB (May 2022 Exams)

Starting the IB can be quite daunting. The programme is widely known to be difficult and intense. Its holistic approach, depth and breadth require students to think critically, make connections and apply theories learnt. Though this may seem like a huge task ahead, the IB has proved time and again to not only prepare student well for their next academic step, but also for life.

As alumni ourselves, we understand all of the feelings before, during and after the IB. If we could do it again, we would have better prepared ourselves going into the IB in order to help us during it. This crash course helps you get ready by starting you in a favourable position.

You will work with one of our highly qualified tutors to consolidate your weaker areas and get a head-start on the upcoming syllabus. They will also tailor the session specifically to your needs, concerns and goals.

The nature of the IB provides students with learning opportunities well beyond academic grades. We believe, by preparing yourself before the IB will both help you with the syllabus, as well as better enable you to take advantage of the different opportunities that lie ahead.

How does it work?

Step 1

Fill in our registration form online or with one of our team members via telephone. A deposit of half the course fee is required upon registration to reserve your spot. See payment policy below.

Step 2

Using the information provided during registration, we tailor the course to your needs. A member of our team will reach out within a week of registration to finalise the details!

Step 3

A week before your session, we introduce you to your assigned tutor(s) to finalise your class schedules and make any last-minute adjustments. With everything confirmed, you can hit the ground running and start your session!

We only require a 50% deposit at the time of booking, the remaining 50% will be billed half way through your crash course session.

Students are able to register for as many subjects as they require. Pricing for 1, 2 and 3 subjects is shown above. The full price for 1 subject is GBP 460. If you take more than 1 subject each subject will be priced at GBP 450.

work?

Before the course:
Using the information you provide in the registration form, our course leaders will design a study plan based on your needs, goals and requirements. A week before the session begins, your assigned course leader will discuss and finalise the plan with you; allowing you to maximise your 12 hours.

During the course:
Our tutors are all trained to use the latest technology including interactive whiteboards, file sharing, and online graphing tools. They will record your sessions for you to access whenever you need (your consent will be requested and access will be strictly between tutor and student). Throughout the session, your tutor will also provide you access to IB study resources and past paper styled questions where necessary. Find more information on online tutoring.

After the course:
Should you wish to continue lessons with your tutor after the 12 hours is complete, simply email us at courses@ascientia.org and we will make the change. You will also be able to access all the materials and class recordings from the crash course.

By attending the crash course, you will gain access to a wealth of IB past paper questions and various study materials. Your tutor will be able to share the resources appropriate for your needs. We fully believe in the IB's ethos and have arranged for a series of panel discussions with IB alumni around the world. At these video calls, you will be able to ask questions, hear from awesome people and also gain an insight into a potential future path.

What happens if I need to cancel my booking?

We understand that circumstances may change and you will no longer be able to make the crash course. If this is the case, simply email us 10 days before your session start date to cancel your booking to receive a full refund. Unfortunately if you cancel within 10 days of your start date we will be unable to refund you the deposit. Regardless of when you cancel, you will not be charged the remaining 50%.
